Trump agrees with the European Union on Tariffs of 15% on Purchases of Energy and Defense from the USA.
Donald Trump specified that the European Union agrees to buy energy from his country worth 750,000 million dollars
The United States and the European Union have reached a tariff agreement that includes 15% tariffs on European products, as well as EU purchases of U.S. energy and military equipment, President Donald Trump announced.
Trump said that under this pact, the EU agrees to buy $750 billion worth of energy from his country and invest an additional $600 billion in military equipment.
Washington, for its part, will apply a flat tariff on EU imports, including cars, of 15%, instead of the 30% it had threatened starting in August if there was no agreement.
In addition, according to Trump, European countries will agree to apply zero tariffs on U.S. imports, although the U.S. president did not give further details.
The Pharmaceutical products are excluded from this negotiation, according to the Republican leader in statements to the press after his meeting with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
"I think we both wanted to reach an agreement," said Trump, after shaking hands with the representative of the Twenty-Seven, whom he received at his golf resort in Turnberry, west of Scotland.
"This negotiation began months ago, so we knew what we were getting into" and there was the intention of "reaching an agreement satisfactory to both parties," he said.
"It's going to be very good for everyone,” said Trump, who reiterated that the agreement with the EU, which has a market of 800 million consumers, “is the biggest of all.”
After closing the agreement, the community delegation went to the airport, where Von der Leyen is expected to make statements.
Trump received Von der Leyen as part of a four-day personal trip to Scotland, which will culminate on Tuesday with a visit to his other golf course near Aberdeen, in northeast Scotland.
The president will also meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday at Turnberry, with whom he will discuss the bilateral tariff agreement, as well as the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
